Morocco Strengthens Its Regional Position with Major Projects in Transport, Health, and Renewable Energy

In a strategic move that reflects Morocco’s commitment to developing its infrastructure and strengthening its position as a regional economic hub, King Mohammed VI has overseen the launch of major projects in the fields of transport, health, and renewable energy.

The King inaugurated the high-speed rail project between Kenitra and Marrakech, which spans 430 kilometers and involves a total investment of over 96 billion dirhams. The project aims to significantly reduce travel times between major cities, with the journey from Tangier to Marrakech taking only 2 hours and 40 minutes. It also includes the acquisition of 168 modern trains, with a strong focus on increasing local industrial content with an integration rate exceeding 40%, contributing to the creation of thousands of jobs and the development of national expertise.

In the health sector, the King launched a program to deploy 100 mobile health units equipped with telemedicine technology, distributed across 34 provinces and 9 regions of the Kingdom. This initiative aims to provide specialized medical services to remote and rural areas, having already benefited more than 104,000 people, with women accounting for 65% of the beneficiaries.

As part of Morocco’s commitment to the energy transition, the King chaired a working session to accelerate the development of renewable energies, particularly in solar and wind power. He also ordered the formulation of a “Morocco Offer” for the green hydrogen sector, including the necessary regulatory framework and infrastructure, with the goal of attracting both domestic and foreign investment and reinforcing the Kingdom’s energy sovereignty.

These projects embody Morocco’s comprehensive vision for sustainable development by focusing on infrastructure improvement, strengthening healthcare services, and transitioning towards a green economy. They also highlight the Kingdom’s dedication to enhancing its position as a regional economic hub through investment attraction and industrial growth.

These initiatives represent a major step toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and reinforcing Morocco’s role as a leader in transport, health, and renewable energy both regionally and internationally.
