Tebboune’s Disastrous Speech: A Mix of Vulgarity, Lies, and Denial of Reality

The latest speech by the Algerian President, “the misnamed” Tebboune, delivered before both houses of Parliament on Sunday, December 29, confirmed what many feared: Algeria is in the hands of an authoritarian and incompetent regime, excessively manipulating its own people and institutionalizing the denial of reality as the foundation of its governance. By labeling the writer Boualem Sansal as an “impostor sent by France,” Tebboune not only revealed his pathological intolerance towards freedom of expression but also his inability to lead a country in deep crisis.

Boualem Sansal: The Political Prisoner That Crossed the Line
The arrest of Boualem Sansal, a renowned author and vocal critic of the Algerian government, in mid-November on charges of “endangering state security” is a crude and absurd act of censorship, exposing the regime’s pathological fear of intellectuals.
By calling Sansal an “impostor” and insinuating that he doesn’t know his father or identity!!!, Tebboune crossed the threshold of vulgarity and baseness, engaging in a vile personal attack. These words reflect not only authoritarian drift but also deep political incompetence and a complete lack of dignity.

A Diplomacy of Vulgarity
Rather than addressing the economic and social crises ravaging Algeria, Tebboune targets France with unfounded and caricatured accusations. Blaming the former colonial power has become the preferred excuse of this faltering regime. “Colonization left Algeria in ruins,” Tebboune insists, conveniently forgetting that his country has been independent for over six decades.
The truth is that today’s Algeria is a victim of its own ruling class. Tebboune and his “Generals” (mere ignorant corporals promoted to generals) prefer to maintain imaginary conflicts with France and Morocco rather than address the collapse of their economy, the massive youth exodus, and rampant corruption.

The Moroccan Sahara File: A Pathological Obsession
The military regime’s obsession with the Moroccan Sahara perfectly illustrates its policy of evasion. While Morocco multiplies its diplomatic victories, notably with growing international support for its autonomy plan, Algeria sinks into absurd isolation.
Labeling Morocco’s proposal as a “French Plan”!!! is nothing more than a desperate attempt to conceal the failures of Algerian diplomacy. Supporting the mercenaries of the Polisario remains a burden Algeria continues to bear at the expense of its own people.

Algeria, a Prisoner of a Disconnected Junta
This disastrous speech highlights the alarming state of a regime in full decline. Far from being the reformist leader he claims to be, Tebboune is, in reality, a puppet of a junta that fears change. Every criticism is repressed, and every dissenting voice is silenced.
Algeria is a volcano on the verge of eruption, and the long-contained anger of its people threatens to sweep away this dying regime. Recent history has shown that people always end up taking their destiny into their own hands. Tebboune and his mafioso “Generals” would do well to remember that.
