Release of the Spanish Hostage: The Lies of the Algerian Military Regime Exposed

Once again, the Algerian military regime has demonstrated its manipulative practices and misleading statements. In an exaggerated declaration, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune claimed that the security services and the Ministry of National Defense effectively and discreetly orchestrated the release of Spanish hostage Navarro Gianni Gilbert.

However, the truth always comes to light. The Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) revealed that the release operation was actually carried out by its units, through a carefully planned operation and negotiations led by local actors, exposing the staged narrative of the Algerian regime.

A blatant failure of Algerian authorities
According to the CMA, the hostage was kidnapped on January 14, 2025, in southern Algeria and subsequently transferred to Mali, specifically to the Azawad region, by a criminal network exploiting Algeria’s failure to secure its porous borders.

An operation without Algerian army involvement
Contrary to Tebboune’s statements, the Algerian army played no role in the operation. The CMA confirmed that it worked with Algerian authorities and handed over the hostage safely, without any military intervention from Algeria. The CMA’s statement also pointed to the implicit complicity of Algeria with the criminal networks operating freely across its borders.

A regime losing credibility
Faced with economic and social crises shaking the country, the Algerian regime tries to divert attention with spectacular but baseless declarations. Behind the illusion of regional power, the regime struggles to hide its weakness and decline.

Moreover, the CMA highlighted the collaboration between the Malian army and mercenaries from the Wagner Group, exacerbating instability in the Sahel region. Meanwhile, Algeria continues its lies and hollow promises at the expense of regional security.

Algeria caught in its contradictions
Amid diplomatic tensions with Morocco, Algeria desperately seeks to improve its international image. Yet, its unguarded borders and inability to address security challenges expose its shortcomings.

It is time for the international community to scrutinize Algeria’s statements seriously. The facts are clear: Algeria is a giant with feet of clay, incapable of playing the stabilizing role it claims. This new attempt at manipulation underscores the urgent need to expose the practices of a declining regime.
