Paris: Emmanuel Macron and Aziz Akhannouch Inaugurate the 2025 Agriculture Fair
French President Emmanuel Macron officially inaugurated the 61st edition of the International Agricultural Fair (SIA) in Paris on Saturday morning, in the presence of Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.
During the event, Macron and Akhannouch cut the ribbon, marking the official opening of the fair, where Morocco is honored as the first foreign guest of honor. The ceremony was attended by a high-level Moroccan delegation, including the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, Morocco’s Ambassador to France, Samira Sitail, along with key agricultural sector players and members of the French government. Following this, Aziz Akhannouch signed the SIA’s guest book before inaugurating the Moroccan pavilion.
Morocco’s recognition at this year’s SIA (February 22 – March 2, 2025) highlights the strong bilateral relations between France and the Kingdom. It reflects the excellence of the Franco-Moroccan partnership and underscores Morocco’s status as a regional and continental model for sustainable and smart agriculture.
The Moroccan pavilion, covering an area of 476 m², will showcase the richness and diversity of the country’s agricultural sector.
Held under the theme “A French Pride”, this 61st edition of the SIA is expected to welcome over 600,000 visitors. The event will bring together around 1,000 exhibitors and feature approximately 4,000 animals across a total area of 16 hectares, divided into nine pavilions.
Morocco’s recognition at the SIA also resonates with an upcoming event: in April, France will, in turn, be the guest of honor at the International Agricultural Fair of Morocco (SIAM) in Meknès.
This choice symbolizes the complementarity between the two countries, extending beyond trade exchanges to address major agricultural challenges such as food security, water resource management, and agricultural innovation.
