Algerian political and human rights activist, Walid Kebir, confirmed today, Saturday, the disappearance of the Algerian opposition journalist Hicham Aboud.
According to media sources, “Hicham Aboud disappeared after a flight from France to Spain,” where “his family searched for him in hospitals and with the relevant authorities, but to no avail.”
Hicham Aboud disappeared during his trip from France to Spain on the evening of Thursday, October 17, causing concern and anger among Algerian journalists and human rights activists.
Hicham Aboud, known for his critical stances against the Algerian military regime, disappeared after broadcasting a new video on his YouTube channel, where he talked about attempts by the Algerian intelligence services to target him. After this video, many observers believe that his disappearance may be linked to the involvement of Algerian intelligence in his abduction.
In this context, Algerian human rights activist Anwar Malek, who is close to Aboud, stated: “My last contact with Hicham Aboud was at the airport in France on Thursday evening, where he told me that he was on his way to Spain and promised to contact me upon arrival, but we lost contact with him since then.”
Anwar Malek added, during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel, that “Hicham Aboud’s wife confirmed that communication with him had been cut off since Thursday, and that his phones were strangely turned off, which is unusual for him.”
