Two men aged 32 and 39, of Algerian nationality, were taken into custody at the National Anti-Fraud Office yesterday, Sunday, August 18.
The staggering sum of 2.4 million euros in cash, part of which was in Swiss francs, was discovered in their luggage at Roissy Airport. This is a record seizure of money at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport.
According to information from Bfmtv, the two men were coming from Algiers and were supposed to take a flight to Turkey, and were in possession of this sum. They claimed to be textile merchants. A source close to the case told Bfmtv that this is a “record seizure” at this Parisian airport. Hearings are ongoing, and an investigation has been opened.
2.4 million euros in cash is not something the average person can access, and it’s not easy to take them out of Algiers, considering the strict measures imposed by customs and police services on Algerian citizens.
