Tunisia Launches Tender to Purchase Soft Wheat
European traders reported today, Tuesday, that Tunisia’s state grain buyer has launched an international tender to purchase around 75,000 tons of soft milling wheat.
They added that the deadline for submitting bids is August 21, and shipment is required in September and October, depending on the origin.
Tunisia has been regularly purchasing grains from international markets in recent months after the country’s grain harvest dropped by 60% this year to 250,000 tons due to drought since last year. This has added further burden on the state due to the need for imports, in addition to the ongoing financial crisis.
