Spanish hotel giant chooses Morocco for new projects

Tarik Hantout, the general manager of the Moroccan branch of the Spanish hotel chain (Soho Boutique Hotels), confirmed that the group is focusing on Morocco as a key destination in its international expansion plan.

Hantout explained that the Spanish group plans to strengthen its presence in the Kingdom by opening two new establishments annually, with an annual investment of 30 million euros until 2030, making Morocco a major strategic hub for its expansion.

He added that Morocco was chosen due to its exceptional tourism and cultural potential, noting that these investments will be financed through a combination of internal funds and partnerships with real estate and investment groups.

In this context, the Spanish group plans to open new hotel establishments that reflect the richness of Moroccan identity and heritage, in close collaboration with the Moroccan National Tourism Office and the Ministry of Tourism.

Hantout emphasized that the group aims to showcase Morocco’s many assets and position it as a leading tourist destination, in order to offer a unique and authentic travel experience for visitors.

He pointed out that training staff is a key priority for the group to ensure the success of its hotel expansion in Morocco, and that a Higher Tourism Academy will be established for this purpose, in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office and specialized educational institutions.

The Spanish hotel chain will invest 5 million dirhams annually in the training program, which will be held in both Morocco and Spain, aiming to train about 250 employees annually to integrate them into the new hotels opening in the Kingdom.

On another note, the spokesperson mentioned that the Spanish group plans to open a luxury resort in Tangier, in addition to negotiating new projects in Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech.

He confirmed the Andalusian group’s commitment to sustainable tourism, noting that Soho Boutique Hotels will adopt in Morocco the same environmental standards that earned it six environmental certifications in Spain, reflecting its full integration of sustainability into its expansion process.
