Russian Foreign Ministry: Ukrainian Forces Used Western Missiles to Destroy a Bridge in Kursk

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Ukraine used Western missiles, likely American-made HIMARS, to destroy a bridge over the Seym River in the Kursk region, resulting in the deaths of volunteers who were attempting to evacuate civilians.

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated late yesterday evening (Friday) via the Telegram platform: “For the first time, the Kursk region has been bombed by Western-made rocket launchers, likely the American HIMARS.”

She added, “As a result of the attack on the bridge over the Seym River in the Glushkovo region, it was completely destroyed, and volunteers who were helping evacuated civilians were killed.”

The Ukrainian General Staff stated yesterday, Friday, that its forces continue to advance in the Kursk region, located in southern Russia.

Kyiv claims that Ukrainian forces are still advancing and have managed to take control of more than 80 areas covering 1,500 square kilometers.

Russia has denied this claim, which independent observers consider exaggerated. Russian military bloggers reported heavy losses among Ukrainian forces yesterday, Friday, but Ukraine has not officially commented on this.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukrainian attacks are still being repelled and that the flow of reinforcements from Ukraine has been cut off.
