Giant drilling ship arrives in Morocco… Reports of massive gas reserves
A giant drilling ship has arrived off the coast of Morocco to develop the Anchois offshore field project.
The drilling ship Stena Forth has arrived at the field site under the Lixus offshore license and has begun drilling operations today at the East Anchois well (now referred to as Anchois-3).
The goal of the Stena Forth drilling ship is to increase the Anchois offshore field reserves to approximately 1.39 trillion cubic feet of gas, with expectations of making a final investment decision as soon as possible, pending successful drilling operations.
The Greek company Energean, headquartered in London, is the operator of the license with a 45% share, while the British company Chariot holds 30%, and Morocco’s National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) holds 25%.
