France Ignores Algeria’s Reaction and Reaffirms Its Recognition of Morocco’s Sovereignty Over the Sahara!

Yesterday, Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch on the sidelines of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Provence landings in southern France.

Macron initially thanked Aziz Akhannouch for attending the 80th-anniversary ceremony of the Provence landings. He reaffirmed the importance of France honoring the many Moroccan soldiers who fought alongside French and allied forces in Provence, thereby significantly contributing to the liberation of the country.

In what appears to be a French disregard for Algeria’s reaction after recognizing Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, the Élysée Palace reiterated in a statement the new position expressed in the letter that the French president sent to the King of Morocco on the occasion of Throne Day.

The Élysée Palace’s statement highlighted a Franco-Moroccan agreement to work on an ambitious bilateral roadmap aimed at elevating the French-Moroccan relationship to a new level of ambition in economic, agricultural, energy, cultural, and educational fields.

They specified that this new strategic partnership will focus on Moroccan youth and the youth of the African continent. Franco-Moroccan cooperation has been essential in addressing major common challenges, whether industrial, technological, or related to climate change.
