“The Mediterranean” a news and opinion site, is a new addition to the media landscape of this basin, surrounded by 22 countries that together share a 46,000 km coastline, home to approximately 480 million people spread across three continents: Africa, Asia, and Europe. In this space, people share the same culture, language, and religion. These are the peoples of North Africa who are, in reality, a single people having shared the same history. They have affinities and common denominators with the people on the northern shore. These people have a tremendous need to communicate freely and away from all the political contingencies imposed by the rulers.
It is this need for communication that this new media, “The Mediterranean” modestly aspires to fulfill with the help of all those who believe in peace, friendship, and brotherhood. This triptych cannot find meaning without communication.
Through communication, we manage to understand each other, to dispel our misunderstandings, to understand and love each other. And it is through communication that we will build the future of the Mediterranean peoples in total harmony to ensure the well-being of future generations.
As an information tool, “The Mediterranean” aims to inform each other about what is happening with the neighbor, whether near or far. It is also a tool for expressing opinions freely while fully respecting the opinions of others. The exchange of opinions will take place far from any invective or offense. Everything will be done in a friendly manner with arguments and a broad openness of mind. This is the sine qua non condition to achieve our objective: To establish peace and love among the 480 million Mediterraneans.
