36 kilograms of gold ingots seized in Morocco coming from Algeria
A strange exchange at the Algerian-Moroccan border, which is supposed to be tightly closed. Some send hashish, while others transfer gold and precious stones.
While Algerian authorities are arresting hashish traffickers coming from Morocco, in the west, Algerian nationals are being intercepted carrying gold ingots. The haul seized by Moroccan gendarmerie forces was significant: 36 kilograms of gold ingots. The precious material was carefully concealed in the stopped vehicle. This was stated in a report by the Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie on X.
Algerian criminal gangs are behind this trafficking of gold, diamonds, and precious stones into Morocco. These gangs are very active in the border region between Figuig in Morocco and Beni Ounif in Algeria. Moreover, it was the Royal Gendarmerie forces in Bouarfa, 180 km from Figuig, who managed to carry out this operation.
The arrested individuals were also found in possession of 9 million Dirhams, equivalent to 900 euros. The money was intended to bribe the Moroccan gendarmes.
The three arrested individuals were transferred to the judicial center of the Royal Gendarmerie to proceed with legal actions against them, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
