AFCON 2025: Morocco Strengthens Security with an E-Visa to Tackle Hooliganism

As part of its preparations for AFCON 2025, Morocco is taking a proactive approach to ensuring a safe and well-organized environment. Due to the risks associated with hooliganism and security threats, the Kingdom has introduced a mandatory electronic visa for foreign supporters, particularly Algerians. This system requires visitors to present a valid match ticket and a confirmed accommodation booking.

Inspired by the “Hayya” application used during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Morocco has launched the “Yalla” app, a comprehensive digital platform designed to simplify and secure the stay of football fans by offering a range of integrated services for a smooth and organized experience:

🔹 Fast and Secure E-Visa: The new system facilitates the entry process while ensuring real-time tracking of visitors, improving security monitoring.

🔹 Simplified Accommodation Booking: The platform allows fans to find and book lodging easily near stadiums, ensuring a seamless and organized stay.

🔹 Integrated Ticketing System: Tickets can be securely purchased through the app, with QR codes issued for fast stadium access.

🔹 Dining and Entertainment Guide: The app offers recommendations to explore Moroccan cuisine and book various entertainment activities.

🔹 Live Match Schedule: Fans can instantly access match dates and venues, allowing them to plan their trip efficiently.

With this measure, Morocco reaffirms its commitment to hosting an exceptional and secure AFCON 2025. The strict entry requirements aim to reduce hooliganism and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for football enthusiasts.

The tournament is set to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in six major Moroccan cities: Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh, Rabat, and Tangier. Through technological innovation and meticulous organization, Morocco is positioning itself as a leading destination for hosting major international sporting events.
